1.1 Characteristics of a living organism

-Movement
-Respiration: chemical reactions in cells that break down nutrient molecules and release energy
-Sensitivity: the ability to detect and respond to changes in the environment
-Control: Controlling their internal environment (homeostasis)
-Growth: a permanent increase in size
-Reproduction: a processes that make more of the same kind of organism
-Excretion: as a removal from the organisms of toxic materials in excess of requirements
-Nutrition: taking in materials for energy, growth and development
